RENEWED WINTER SCAPES

Updated: Feb 25, 2021

There is a natural progression of life as we step into a new year and this year is no exception. So, make a renewal plan to invite family and friends into your home with green plants, natural arrangements from your yard and invite bird wildlife onto your property for winter foraging.

Now that we have finish our holiday interior decorating, it is time to look outside to our landscape. As the old saying goes there is no place like home for the holidays, and we have all spent a great deal of time inside looking at our interior and exterior surroundings. You may have spent a great deal of time over the past year sorting and cleaning spaces that have been well neglected. So now is the time to start from the front of your house or condo and create a warm winter scene that warms your heart as you approach your entrance.

My favorite outside porch collection of ideas comes from www.gardenoholic.com

Let these porch ideas inspire you to create a welcoming "Curb Appeal " to your front door.

Now is the time to refresh your welcome areas inside and out. My suggestions will benefit all those who live in your home, your neighbors, family and friends who visit along with an invitation to our feather friends who visit your outside property.

To welcome a new season of celebration, spruce up your homes interior entrance by dressing up a mantel with some natural plant branches, a splash of moss and white birch logs. Or cut some pieces of golden evergreens to bring inside to a favorite vase.

If finding natural resources is not feasible for your circumstances then by all means buy a few house plants and bring new life into your home.

Winter time is a great time to try growing paper whites. My friend grows them and each year I love to visit her house and see a taste of fresh flora life, in the middle of winter.

Another way of adding greenery to your interior scape is to add a kitchen garden. These compact highly useful planting kits, produce herbs and fast growing lettuce crops through the winter.

Rosemary is considered the herb of remembrance. While no rosemary's are able to survive severe weather, it is a welcome to bring a rosemary plant indoors to flourish in a cool sunny space.

Then when the Spring welcomes your outdoor living space just transition your kitchen garden to your deck or patio.

With your outside landscape, renew your winter vista by inviting birds to nest and feed on your property.

Plan on purchasing a new birdfeeder a small investment of just a suet feeder will help our feather friends keep life outside your door during the winter into the Spring.

These simple steps will reset your natural rhythm for your home to have a revitalized energy for your heart and hearth.
