Adding Curb Appeal to Your Entrance

Updated: Aug 2, 2020

Greet your Friends and family with Curb Appeal.

Summer is a great time to add all the color you want to your front entrance. In New England we have from summer to Fall to flank our front walkways with color that bursts from June through October. Annuals, mixed with perennials and existing shrubbery.

The most important concept to remember is to carry your eye from the walkway to the front door with strategically placed shrubs, urns and garden accents. As you approach your walkway, vary the heights of your display as your approach the front door.

Your front door can be a place for personal creativity. Add color with a painted door, add a living pergola to soften your front entrance. If you want more of a structural change, add a front door roof with some architectural accent, new railings. a new lamp post or try a small piece of fencing to separate your walk way from your garden.

The small innovative changes you make to your front entrance are endless. The rewards are very satisfying as a weekend project. Just remember that details are very important, compliment the style and age of your home and the type of garden that best fits your creative style.

As always keep in mind , the location of the plants according to the light, wind and water needs that are required for the choices of plants that are appealing to you.
